Growth & Development Fund

Background

In October 2005, the House of Delegates representing the membership of the Georgia Nurses Association voted to transition from a geographically based district structure to a more member-driven chapter structure. In the new structure, chapters can form based on geography or shared interest. GNA members may choose to belong to more than one chapter. The proportion of membership dues previously distributed to districts now go into the Growth & Development Fund. Funds are distributed to GNA Chapters through an application process and are awarded by the Growth & Development Fund Committee. The Growth & Development Fund Committee consists of the Membership Development Director, GNA Treasurer, and three Chapter Chairs appointed by the GNA Board of Directors.

 

Eligibility Criteria

All GNA Chapters are eligible to apply. Funds are awarded to chapters who provide the most compelling case for support among the applicants and who meet the requirements set forth by the Growth & Development Fund Committee and GNA Policies. Generally, a chapter requesting funds must be in good standing with the Georgia Nurses Association, meaning they must have ten or more GNA members and must have filed timely contact information and a membership roster with GNA headquarters.

 

Awarding Process

Applications and post-event evaluations are reviewed each quarter. Deadline dates scheduled for receipt of GNA Chapter Growth & Development Funds are as follows:

 

December 31st for awards in January

March 31st for awards in April

June 30th for awards in July

September 30th for awards in October
