CEO Corner

Dear Georgia Nurses Association members,

While Executive Director of the Blue Ridge Area Health Education Center, I had the privilege of working with nursing professionals throughout Northwest Georgia.  I witnessed firsthand their passion for caring for patients and the pride they take in serving as a nurse. Whether through being a preceptor to students, working long hours at a clinic or hospital, or even running a large school, Georgia’s nurses are the backbone of healthcare in our state.

With that said, you deserve someone in your corner, and the GNA team is that champion. As the new Chief Executive Officer of the Georgia Nurses Association, I am committed to providing you with the representation and services needed to enhance your career.

Every legislative session, countless bills are introduced at the State Capitol that directly affect your job. Tracking the complex legislative process, providing you with timely reporting on bills and navigating the cavernous halls under the Gold Dome to speak with key legislators are some of our top priorities. Rest assured there is nothing more important to me and the GNA team than successfully advocating on your behalf. Click here for our 2019 legislative platform.

We are also focused on providing, for you, opportunities to grow professionally and network with your peers. It is our goal to be your go to choice when seeking continuing education. The GNA team will be working to improve and grow these services in order to meet an ever changing landscape of educational requirements. Be on the lookout for our latest events that provide an excellent opportunity to learn new skills and build solid relationships with your fellow nurses.

There is also still time to register for our Unity Conference for Nursing Excellence set to take place on October 4th-6th at the Cobb Galleria Centre. This is the first conference of its kind and is hosted jointly by The United Advanced Practice Registered Nurses and the Georgia Nurses Association. Experts will be presenting on everything from the Opioid Crisis to Women’s Health and much needed continuing education credits are available to attendees!

Don’t miss out on this incredible learning and networking opportunity! To register and learn more click here.

Lastly, we need to know what you want most out of the Georgia Nurses Association which is why you will be receiving from us via email a member survey by the end of the year. By completing it, you will provide us with valuable information on how GNA can better serve you.

Again, being able to work for the Georgia Nurses Association is quite an honor. Thank you for this amazing opportunity! I share your passion and pride and look forward to serving the nursing community in our state.
